Sturgeon Moon & Partial Lunar Eclipse

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, this month’s full moon occurs at 5:16pm and Native American fishing tribes can be given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon. I’ve often wondered what names we modern day warriors might give our Lady if we had the chance…?

MOON IN AQUARIUS

The Aquarian energy of this Full Moon brings the desire for freedom, we are lured by the innovative and unconventional, and we have an instinctive need for improvement. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us. Perhaps the best way we can utilize the intense energy of the Full Moon in Aquarius is to find ways to express our love for our communities, both local and global. Now would be a wonderful time to make plans to become more politically active and to generate ideas for bringing other sorts of progressive change into our lives.
Aquarians want change because Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of change and are also known to be frank and outspoken. So don’t be surprise if you feel the urge to tell someone what is really on your mind – but maybe you might want to rethink that! Instead, take this Aquarius full moon energy and apply this outlook of change to manifest your goals. Apply these affirmations to this full moon:

PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE

This month’s eclipse is the second of two Lunar Eclipses in 2008 and will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Aquarius at 24º21’. At exactly 9:11pm the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Leo at 24º21’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Leo blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 24º21’ with the Sun and Moon. Generally, Earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon. A Lunar Eclipse emphasizes this emotional reaction!! Psychic sensitivity, spiritual instincts and emotional connectedness are aroused by a Lunar eclipse as the environment becomes a little unstable. This unstable environment occurs because there is change in the electromagnetic energy that affects us mentally and neurologically. There will be some stress as blockages will begin to crumble and then there will be a feeling of freedom. The good news is that creative and artistic qualities will be discovered as you let go of beliefs that don’t correspond with your current reality!! Outdated ideals or dreams may need to be discarded, which can be painful but necessary. You experience an awakening to today’s truths as the clutter is cleared away and the present is seen in a new light.
 This Full Moon is joined by nebulous Neptune which governs water and all things spiritual and dreamy. Floods, fraud and all things fake make their way into the headlines. All Full Moons bring matters to fulfillment. Eclipses always mean crises. But, crisis is not necessarily a bad thing. Organizations may be touched by scandal as what has been hidden comes to light. Personally, a phase of your life ends and a new one begins. Whatever part of your life is not in sync with your true life’s purpose will show the most change and this can be seen by where this eclipse falls in your personal chart. But, remember, this is all good and part of your pattern of growth as you are forced to finally drum up the courage make necessary life corrections!! Enjoy the process!! :-)
